Q1. What is the process of creating a Japanese garden with Tsubo Zen Gardens?
A:
Our process is designed to ensure we create an authentic and harmonious Japanese garden tailored to your space. Here's how it works:
-
Submit a Quote Request Form
You can begin by submitting our online form. We’ll provide a free rough estimate. To assist us in understanding your space, we may ask for photos. -
Site Inspection & Initial Design
Upon receiving a $600 non-refundable deposit, we’ll conduct an on-site inspection. During this visit, we’ll discuss your preferences and vision. Based on this, we’ll develop a conceptual design and a detailed quote. -
Design Finalisation & Agreement
After the consultation, we’ll finalise the garden design in line with authentic Japanese principles. Once you approve the design and sign the agreement, only minor changes can be made. -
Construction Phase
Construction begins with a payment of 50% of the total construction fee, minus the deposit. -
Completion & Final Payment
The remaining balance is due upon completion of the garden.
Q2. Can you include my art object in the garden design?
A:
It depends. While we value your personal touches, not all objects harmonise with the refined aesthetics of a Japanese garden. We’ll assess whether your art piece aligns with the overall design concept during the planning stage.
Q3. I have ideas for my ideal Japanese garden. Can you incorporate them?
A:
We’re happy to explore your ideas during the design stage, before construction begins. Our goal is to create gardens that adhere to authentic Japanese design principles. If your vision reflects a more personal interpretation or fusion style, we may recommend working with a different designer.
Once the agreement is signed, we will proceed with the garden as per the finalised design developed in consultation with you.
Q4. Can you design our garden if we already have a construction team?
A:
Yes, we can provide a standalone garden design service. For gardens located in Melbourne, the cost for a site inspection and concept design starts from $600, depending on the garden's size and complexity.
Before moving forward, please consider:
-
Have you explored creating your own design using books or online resources?
-
Please note that you may not refer to the garden as being designed by Shoso Shimbo unless the final design is reviewed and approved by Shoso himself.
